Movies as Trophies
I was excited to get a Roku player for Christmas because I would finally be rid of the bulky discs that weigh me down. My entire movie library would be digital.
I knew my wife would not be totally onboard due to the newness but her argument surprised me. Her argument was one that is impossible to refute. The #1 reason she prefers having a Bluray player as opposed to an endless supply of streaming HD content: She likes the box.
I was speechless.
While I don’t get it (and it never occurred to me), no doubt millions of people probably feel the same as her. They have an emotional attachment to that box.
I must say I admire her brutal honesty on her reasoning. I could’ve never made that argument with a straight face. I mean the last CD I bought was Eminem’s 1998 release. I just got the Kindle app on my iPhone and love it!
What do you think? Will physical media be around longer than I think?
